avgasregler för trimmad motor
I am looking at a 7 port head, with injectors and a new ECU!
http://www.specialist-components.co.uk/ ... _info-null
http://www.specialist-components.co.uk/ ... earch-null
Now I am concerned about the emissions as my car is a 1996! I have planned to have the original motor bored to 1380 and a new cam shaft fitted. The company in England state 120 bhp and 110 lbft. Do you think this is going to be too wild for the emissions levels for a 1996?
I suppose it will be possible to change the map on the ECU, but then whats the point!
Also what do I need to do once the engine is fitted -
As its still the same engine do i need regbes?
Does the car need to be tested at sfro?
Sorry for all the questions, I still dont understand the rules here; I will get there though.

Re: avgasregler för trimmad motor
It is tricky to say what your emissions will be, but.. when you replace the camshaft for a wilder one, it usually will cause worse pollution.
There is a good chance that you will end up with a car which wiill be impossible to get through SBP, due to emissions.
If I not am totally wrong, it is same limits for all cars from 1989 when catalytic converters became compulsary in Sweden. I also beleive that it is easiier to pass UK MoT than the swedish equivalent, maybe I am wrong here.
Anyhow, if your going for a 1380 and a new cylinder head, you have to modify/replace the ECU, even if you don't change cam.
To be perfectly road legal you should regbes your car after modification, but... no one really does it. There might be a small risk regarding insurance reduction in case of accident. But it is a very small risk that anyone discover your mods.
I drove my 1275GT through SBP at least 10 times with a very hot 1380. They never said a word regarding the engine. This despite the very lumpy idle which a 286 cam create...
SFRO is not needed here, since you still is making small mods. If you where moving the engine to rear seat, replace the engine with a 2liter turbo, or something like that - then you talk to SFRO.

Re: avgasregler för trimmad motor
Im going to call specialist components in England (the place that do the cylinder head) and hope that they have some information regarding the typical emissions it produces. you are correct I suspect the emissions levels in the UK are lower too.
The Ecu they provide seems quite impressive and i wonder whether i could run a "fuel efficient" map. The ecu still uses the Lambda sensor so It must be possible to play around with the ecu map and get it through the test. However given the cost of the head and engine work this is a bit of a risk.
I was planning on a Calver RE13PP cam which is 280° so not as mad as your 286

Re: avgasregler för trimmad motor
you cold always poor in some E85, lowers the co a fair bit or go for a race cathalyst

hi, if the car in taken here as "personal-belongings",it can be emulution kontrol free...check your "registrerings bevis". sorry for bad english
best regards

Allt under 8" är för litet....

Re: avgasregler för trimmad motor
So I called specialist components in England, They reckon that there should be no problem regarding emission!
I have only been to sbp once; i cant remember but do they only test emissions at idle engine speed?
I have an old "bilprovningen" here at looking at the miljökontrolvärden, I can see that
CO must be within 0,5
HC within 100
CO2500 within 0,3
Lambda 0,95-1,09
Are these the same figures for every car? EDIT i can see from the bilprovningen from my Alfa that its different!!!

ARGHHHHH !!1
This is getting me confused.
Basically the cost of having my current engine worked on here is really expensive, Basically for half the price I can buy a fully built short block in the UK with a higher spec. Although an engine is an engine, it makes sense to have the engine build by someone in England who builds A series engines every day!
So my next question - What do i need to do register / bes my car with a new engine?
Does SBP etc have a note of my current engine number?
As it is a new engine will i need to go to sfro?
or will i need a regbes?
The engine will be within the 15kw /100kg limit.
