Backljus MKIII
Backljus MKIII
Hej!
Tack i förhand!

Hi Lars,
I saw your car at Steve's place on Thursday. I didnt realize it was you, I guess you changed your user name.
Hopefully you get your car back and working soon!
Cheers
Craig

Re: Backljus MKIII
Hi Craig,
Yeah, we changed the user name as we couldn't remember the old one
What did you do at Steve's? Nice little place they've got there.
According to Steve our car is not in bad shape so she should be back on the road soon.
Still have to fix the brakes though (all new wheel cylinders and brake shoes), but I'm contemplating taking the car to my dad in DK to keep costs on a low, as we simply can't afford to have Steve and the guys fix them. At the moment the brakes are in working condition (read: passed "besiktning") but they deviate quite a lot from eachother (29%), so ideally fixing that is next up.
We haven't had the best of luck with the car lately. Last summer I took the car to DK to see my family. Almost there the radiator AND the clutch gave up simultaneously, so last summer we didn't get much driving done. Then first thing this year there has been starting issues - probably due to the cooling agent present in cylinder 3 and an ignition coil in poor shape - but that is what Steve and the guys are solving right now. That and the worn CV joint/ball joint (the problems were related) that made it fail the "besiktning".

Re: Backljus MKIII
I have a small hobbyverksamhet selling nuts and bolts (www.britishnutsandbolts.se) I was dropping of an order to Steve.
Yeah we spoke about your brakes. I am not sure how many on here still use drum brakes. Most I think have upgraded to discs the front. I think that is what i would do, minispares sell a good kit for this. The kit includes balljoints and cv joints so you may even save money.

Re: Backljus MKIII
Allright - thought you had an issue with the car since you stopped by.
Yeah, I thought about converting the brakes a while ago, but never really got around to it.
I was reading an article about it the other day (http://www.minimania.com/article/609/Up ... ini_Brakes) that stated that due to the size of my wheels (13x7) I would need to convert to 8,4 inch disc brakes because of the increase in inertia.

Re: Backljus MKIII
Yes but the inertia force/resistance is higher with larger wheels but you have that force at the moment through small drums.T&L skrev:Allright - thought you had an issue with the car since you stopped by.
